On 2/14/16 I saw a robin eating dry cat food out of my flower window box by my kitchen window. I had dry cat in there for the Carolina wren. Last year I saw a robin eating dry cat food in my backyard I placed there for the hungry starlings. Feeding dry cat food is Ok if there is snow available to quench their thirst. The food immediately offsets the cold effect on their bodies. Bird bath heaters I would never use because I read of someone using one in the winter and a short while later he/she discovered 5 dead birds that supposedly froze to death after bathing.
