Walking out to the York University parking lot after work, at about 5:30 p.m., I was surprised to hear a robin singing loudly and continuously! It was at the top of a leafless tree, apparently oblivious to the extremely cold weather that would arrive a few days later here in Toronto.
It was definitely the "True Song". He was going on and on, still singing when I drove away! Robins do nest in the area where I saw this one. Perhaps he was singing to celebrate his return to his territory (despite the early date and poor weather).
