Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/13/2016

Number: 150

I saw a couple Robins flying in my back yard between trees the day before, but wasn't quite sure because I thought it was too cold in CT in the winter. The next morn I awoke to Robins everywhere. I couldn't count them and was worried because record cold temperatures were expected for the next few days. There were at least 100 and could have been 200 as some were in trees across the street but mostly in my trees. I have a couple very tall pine trees. It seemed many were under there eating something below. The ground had pre fallen snow. Were they eating pine seeds I wondered? I also have Berberry? bushes ( pricker bushes )By the time I bought bird seed and came home a few hrs later, they were gone. The next day temps were -10 degrees windchill - 30!!! When I could go out again a few days later,it did appear that some type of berry residue was on the snow.I also have had some larger orange berries ( not much though )on vines but dont know if they were here then or if the birds found any. There are still many red pricker bush berries left so I dont know if they spit them ( red berry reside on the snow still )out or if any were really eaten. Also Ewe tall bushes in yard and another tall evergreen with cone like seeds. I think they were eating the pine seeds myself. The long 6-8" narrow cones with small seeds. Hope this helps!
