We were completely surprised to discover about 15 tulips had emerged in the very cold weather, because the nights were still well below freezing. The tallest sprout was about 2 centimeters tall. A few sprouts on the northeast side of our tulip bed had broken off at ground level. We wondered if it was because of the very cold temperatures.
