Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 02/02/2016

Number: 3

The 3 Larva or Chrysalis was first noticed on 2/2/2016 2 on succulent plants approximately 20 feet from the Milkweed plants. They went over mulch, bricks, concrete and dirt to reach get to their destination. One larva was located in a position where it was in the shade at all times. The other was located on a portion of a succulent where it got a lot of sun. We've been having very warm weather - 80's in Orange County CA and I was concerned it would be too hot. A third larva was on a rim of a planter that was located close to the milkweed plant - 2 days later it was penetrated by something and no longer viable.
