Bald Eagle
Sightings report image

Date: 03/11/2016

Number: 1

This was a first time event for me. Driving home from Bloomington, I saw this beautiful eagle, trying to pull his captured lunch, to the side of the road. I thought it was a vulture, because he had his head down to pull meat off his "kill". But, as I slowed down, he raised his beautiful head, and tried to drag his meal to the ditch. He flew a few feet into the field, and since I didn't have another car behind me, I stopped to see if he would come back. He flew back and started tearing at the carcass again. He looked up several times. When I saw a car coming up in back of me, I hit my flashers, so he would slow down, and I moved slowly forward. The gentleman also seemed to want to protect the eagle, because he slowed down to a crawl, and stopped. I moved slowly forward, and the eagle didn't seem to notice. This was a personal high for me. The actual Latitude & Longitude is approximate.
