Earthworm (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/13/2016

Number: 1

Earthworms Mating! While going out in the rain to retrieve forgotten laundry on the clothesline, I spotted what I thought at first was an injured earthworm. When I nudged it with my boot, it separated and each segment went down its own hole. One segment (worm) was thin and the other normal width segment (worm) appeared to have its insides exposed. When the segments separated I realized the thin segment (worm) was in the exposed segment (worm) and they were mating! The next time I see that I will NOT nudge them and spend a little more time observing!
