Four of the 10 tulips have emerged. 3 of them are hard to see they are just barely breaking through the soil.
I was expecting to see them earlier since the I planted the same tulips at Belwin (located in Afton, MN).
Both sites are south facing. My home site, in St. Paul, would be in the urban heat island, and Belwin would be an ex-urban site out of the heat island. I wonder why the Belwin tulips came up earlier (on March 15), three days earlier
My St. Paul site has more loamy/clayey soils. The Belwin site in Afton has sandier soils.
