"After several warm days the ice left Sleepy Eye Lake on March 15, one of the earliest ice out dates since 1988.
Fire Chief Ron Zinniel keeps a record of ice out dates that his dad, Joe Zinniel, started in 1988 when the ice was gone on March 1. Since that time the ice out dates have generally been in late March or early April.
The latest date on Zinniel's list is April 21, 2013. The earliest are that original March 1, 1988; March 6, 2000 and this year's date of March 15"
