Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Number: 1

Today I saw a monarch flying over our yard, then down into the pastures. I followed and saw that it was nectaring on wild blackberry blossoms. Every now and then it landed on a false garlic flower (usually a favorite) but quickly left it to seek out the abundant blackberry blossoms ~ clearly its favorite! It was around 3:30 pm, about 73 degrees F, mostly cloudy, and very windy. I only got one photo, which shows it nectaring. It flew with the strong wind into a neighbor's wild pasture which is loaded with blackberry vines -- very happy for this intrepid traveler to find good sustenance.
