Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/11/2016

Number: 1

I saw the first monarch of the spring. We had a very mild winter, so I think it must have gone into hibernation until the weather warmed up. My milkweed never completely died back. It just lost its leaves. It is already getting plenty of new leaves. I have also seen two monarch caterpillars on two different plants. One is quite tiny and the other looks like it is in its third instar.
