We have been out here 5 years in June and I have only ever seen 2-3 Monarchs in the Spring.... but I see them in late Sept (and an occasional front runner like the one in the attached pic in August) and into October on their way back down.

I am sure it is genetic memory that here there is little for them in Spring.... but always food and a welcome and an avid photographer in October !
