Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/03/2016

Number: 1

Finally made my Sunday trip to check out the milkweed patch near Humble, Texas.

PAtch still there and some plants already had flower buds.

Even better news I found some eggs!!!! On native green milkweed. Asclepius virdis. First time I have found eggs on these plants.

Plants low to groups so I hunkered down to find eggs. On about 50 yards along road found at least 30 plants of varying sizes. At least 4 plants had eggs.

I am seeing monarchs daily. No migrators as these are very fresh monarchs.

At flag pole garden by lake, couple monarchs visited while working in garden. Male and female. The female left eggs!

Saw monarch at my house also yesterday afternoon.

Another beautiful weekend to be a butterfly!
