I saw the first adult Monarch butterfly, of 2016, today. I was unable to get a photo of her but she was drifting around lazily and occasionally would land briefly on a milkweed plant or a broad-bladed grass species. Her wings looked intact, neither faded or tattered. She slowly progressed in a northward direction until out of sight.
