Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/06/2016

Number: 4

I went walking in our pastures from about noon to 1pm. It was mostly cloudy, about 75 degrees F, with a light wind blowing. I saw 4 faded monarchs. One I saw resting at times and laying eggs. One I saw nectaring at a yellow thistle in our backyard and then go on to lay eggs. One I saw at a distance nectaring at another yellow thistle. The fourth I saw (again at a distance) flying around over the wildflower-strewn pasture. I also found fresh milkweed, monarch eggs, and larvae (including newborns). This is a photo of one of the monarchs laying her egg on a milkweed.
