Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/06/2016

Number: 1

This is a photo of the female monarch mentioned in the last report that was laying eggs, but who also nectared on the yellow thistle in our backyard. She nectared for several minutes. Yellow thistles (as unsightly to some as they seem) are one of the most visited nectar plants by monarchs that I have seen over the years. They provide crucial nutrition and hydration that monarchs need on their journeys and during reproduction.
