While working on the metal roof of our farmhouse, I found myself sharing space with a monarch with faded and tattered wings. Amazingly, it passed easily over our house, then up and over a hardwood forest to our north. Our meadows are full of wildflowers and upcoming milkweed, so we have been surprised we've not seen one until now.
