"The ice is officially off Lake Sakakawea and this winter will go down as one of the shortest for the number of days with ice on the big lake.
The lake was considered iced over as of January 15th - and ice-free on April First." "That 77-day span is the fourth-shortest length of time Sakakawea has had ice since it became a lake back in the mid-1950s.
The shortest-ever ice duration on the lake was 69 days in 2012."
