Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/17/2016

Number: 2

I have not reported any signs of the Robins for the last week or so because I have been sick. I love the Robins but they are waking me up every morning outside my bedroom window. There are 2 of them (so I still think this is a pair). The male is singing the "Dawn Song", the "True Song" and I often hear the "Whinny" Song in the afternoon. They sing all day long! When they started singing early in the morning & waking me up I looked outside to see if the sun was up. Well, it still looked dark outside to me. There was barely any light coming through my blinds if any at all. I cannot believe they are singing this early. The male sings more on the days that it is not raining. When it is going to be warm & sunny outside I know I am going to have to listen to the Robin & not just waking me up but all day long! I really need my sleep. They are like an "Alarm Clock" that I do not have to "set". Can they not let me sleep (Hah! Hah!). I watched them flying in the front yard looking for worms & insects on the ground. One of them kept flying to the same tree over & over again. I tried to see if it was a female carrying nesting material. I did not want to go outside on the porch & scare her away. So when I thought I may be seeing her carrying nesting material the neighbor's child came riding on her bike & the Robin flew away. The male is singing in a nearby tree & also sitting on the "Telephone Cable" Singing all afternoon so I really think the female is making her nest nearby. I also noticed that the male Cardinal moved his "Territory" & he is singing to the back left area of the house in a neighbor's yard. So, I am not sure if the male Robin made the male Cardinal leave the area. The Robins are staying in the front yard while the Cardinal pair is staying near the backyard where our platform feeder & birdbath is located. I have some video's of the Robins taking baths & preening that I am going to try to send. I have never seen a Robin preen themselves. They really are fast! I love the birds but I would still love to get to sleep a little later....
