Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/16/2016

Number: 11

Today was an active monarch day with egg-laying, nectaring, and males chasing females. It was very windy all day, partly cloudy, around 80 degrees F, and humidity at 64%. During the night to come it would storm throughout and bring 8 inches of rain. I collected larvae that I thought were in peril because of their location in our bottomland flood plain. This is a photo of a female monarch laying an egg on a milkweed. Her wings are faded and the right side wings are missing a portion as well ~ another valiant monarch that it is a joy to see.
