It took well over a month for our Tulip Test Garden to bloom, but that day is finally here! Spring has officially arrived here in Salem NH! What a rollercoaster it has been since our tulips emerged! We recorded temperatures near 80*F as well as TWO separate snow storms covering our tulips with the white stuff. Our tulips grew two centimeters per day during 70*F temps, but they grew less than 1 cm per day when the snow was on the ground. The past few days have been in close to 70*F which gave our buds the kick they needed to turn red and open up! We certainly learned a lot about how abiotic factors like temperature and precipitation impact living things like our Red Emperors! Happy Spring!
