Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/22/2016

Number: 1

Saw our first ruby-throated hummingbird today at 6:20 pm. Female looking for food. We have feeders out, but the one she was most interested in had been overtaken by ants. Very quickly replaced that one and oiled the hanger so that the ants can't get to it. Sure hope she tries again, soon. I think we are the only home in the immediate neighborhood with feeders up this year. As usual, we use red cellophane to create a big bow on the top of our hangers so the hummies can be drawn in. Since we are in a highly wooded area, this seems to work.
