Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/20/2016

Number: 8

First round chrysalis. The Monarchs that made it to our place a few weeks back from Mexico laid eggs. The eggs hatched, we had well over one hundred caterpillars feeding on the milkweed I've cultivated in my flowerbeds and now the last step before rebirth. We experienced some horrific weather over the last 2 weeks with hail, heavy rains and massive flooding. I've been covering (with plastic sheeting) and uncovering the milkweed with eating caterpillars daily to protect them. As far as I could find, only 2 fatalities to small caterpillars (1 from spider, 1 from apparent drowning). Multiple cocoons visible all around.
