A Hooded Oriole! Wow, are we lucky or what? No category for "other orioles" so I'm reporting in bullock's section.
Turns out the unidentified oriole we first sighted on April 25 is none other than a Hooded Oriole! Now confirmed by several top Colorado professional birders plus two internationals. Only 2nd recorded sighting in Colorado. Visitors have come and enjoyed this rarity and beauty. Bright yellow with a pitch black mask, a tinge of orange around his head and mask and sharp black with white bars on wings. I hope he rebuilds his migrating weight soon so he can go on and find his way for a succsessful breeding year, he won't be able to find a mate here and this cold/sleety weather isn't helping him.
We're providing fruit and nectar and he's taking it.
