Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 05/01/2016

Number: 1

In the last few days I have seen newly emerged monarchs flying across the 40 acres of Milkweed around me.
They are perfect, fast and happy to be on the wing! I only sighted about 10 monarchs fly into this paradise of food so I suspect if I get 100 going north I will do well. Sadly I have enough food plant to have 30,000 new monarchs but that was a past era. One impact that has rarely been mentioned was the invasion of the fireants into this area in 1990. They devour the monarch larva and the eggs. They cripple the ecosystems of Texas.
