Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/01/2016

Number: 5

I planted a Calotropis gigantean, “Crown Plant”, (native to India)in May of 2016 at my mom's house. It was a cutting last summer and was about 16" tall. Amazingly a Monarch found it and laid eggs. The plant could not have supported 5 so I took them to a local park where there were two of these Calotropis bushes about 12' tall. The milkweed has since died because it was eaten at almost ground level. Next time I will protect it with chicken wire.
