Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 05/05/2016

Number: 2

First two butterflies came out of chrysalis today. We have about 20 more in the yard, almost ready to pop. These were from eggs that hatched on April 12, laid by females that spent the winter in our Gulf coast Florida yard. The moms were also born here, on the same plants. We truly have a colony now! So far everyone is healthy- no viruses or wasps detected at this point. So far our milkweed supply has kept up with demand. I took a lot of cuttings last fall, and those are leading out just in time for a new generation.
