Rainy Lake, on the border between Ontario and Minnesota

"Rainy Lake’s ice was officially declared out by Voyageurs National Park officials Saturday"
"Annual ice out days are recorded for Rainy and Kabetogama lakes, and records go back to 1930. The ice out day has usually occurred on Rainy Lake in the last week of April or the first week of May, and the date has occurred in April for 27 of the 84 recorded years. Factors such as spring temperatures, rainfall, runoff, ice thickness and the type of winter determine when the the lake is ice free."
"The earliest recorded ice out day is April 6, which occurred in 2012. Last year, April 28 was recorded as the official ice out date on Rainy. April 30 was also the official ice-out date in 1963, 1985 and 1993. This year, Kabetogama’s ice was declared out April 26."
