Had a Monarch fly by the boat when I was fishing at Swan Falls Res. The milkweeds along the shore nearby were about 2 feet tall and not flowering yet. It was the only monarch I saw that day. I am 80%, but can’t be 100% since it didn’t land near us. It was not a fritillary. I looked at the hindwing in flight to differentiate from a viceroy, and I didn’t see the band in the hindwing venation. However, there are limitations to that assessment in flight; thus, I’m hesitant on 100%.
