I saw a flying monarch in our back yard at about 12:30 pm. It was overcast with thunder in the distance from an oncoming storm and about 70 degrees F. It would begin to rain at 1:00. The monarch flew fast and I was at a distance, so only could say that it appeared to have bright wings. There have been Queen butterflies around for several weeks, but this was distinctively a monarch.
