I have never seen a broad-tailed in my area until today. Ever. The only reason I knew what it was is because I grew up in AZ and we had them around a lot. My picture is very poor because I was so excited and all I had was my phone. My Japanese Thorn bushes are in bloom and that is where he/she was. I was able to get close enough to positively identify it as a ruby throat even though other sites say there are none in eastern WY. Normally we get Rufous hummingbirds and usually not until later in the summer.
