Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/24/2016

Number: 1

I was so excited to see the first monarch of the season flying around my backyard this morning, a beautiful male that looked very fresh (picture is not the best quality as I took it with my phone). The weather here in southern Michigan has been cool with winds consistently out of the north, but today it is clear, 80 degrees with light winds from the southwest. The male seems to be patrolling the milkweed in my yard, which is about a foot tall right now. Hoping to see a female laying eggs soon.
