What a surprise! Today I met with an AZ PBS reporter at Rio Salado in downtown Phoenix for a short interview. Queen butterflies were flying over lush A. subulata milkweed abundantly in bloom. As we finished, I spotted a large flash of orange chasing off the queens - and a gorgeous, large monarch sailed in to feed on the flowers. I took a chance and picked him up with my fingers while he was feeding. What fun - Happy Earth Day! ~Gail
