May 28, my team, Snakes on the Plain was competing in the Carden Biodiversity Challenge, a 24 hour event held annually in Carden Township, Kawartha Lakes. At 4 pm, a Monarch was sighted from our vehicle as we traveled east along Rd.6 towards the Cameron Ranch. It was seen by 3 people. We whooped for joy because the Monarch scored us a bonus point as a species of special concern. We went on to win the competition. The temperature was 30C or 86 F.
