Viceroy was spotted on the ground, wings opening and closing. Severely battered wings. I put my hand down and it crawled on. I carried it to some flowers where it showed no interest. I got a drop of sugar water from my hummingbird feeder...again no interest. Wings continued to open and close. I carried it to a location on my property where there were numerous wild milkweed plants and deposited it there.
