Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/12/2016

Number: 1

First Monarch of the season has arrived. It was drying its wet wings on the driveway, and flew away as we came near. it had been raining here all morning, but the rain had just stopped when we saw the monarch. We have lots of milkweed planted in our yard, as well as nectar plants and have been watching avidly for the arrival of the monarchs. This one does seem a bit early, however we are confident that it was a Monarch and not a Viceroy.
