Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted

Date: 06/14/2016

Number: 4

This note is really for myself so I can easily look it up later. I saw all 4 Hummers at different times today. Male RT, male BC, Female BC & Female or young RT (unable to tell). We had a week of Thunderstorms about 10 days ago. That is when I noticed the female BC coming to the feeder more often. I was wondering if she lost her nests/young. I hope not but the limbs of the trees were swaying & bending over so very much & the rain was coming down very hard for days at a time. I thought if the nest was not in a highly protected area the young could have easily gotten thrown out of the nest & then gotten drown in the rain. But my husband & I were very happy today to see all of the activity of our little garden "jewels". They were all very active feeding on the flowers & going to the feeder. A week ago we had not seen any Hummers for several weeks that I finally asked my husband "Where did all of the Hummingbirds go?". All l I got from him was a shrug of his shoulders. I am not sure why the Storms seem to have sent the Hummingbirds back to us but was pleased to have them back around. It was in the 90's today & has been for the last 2 wks. Still awaiting for all of the youngsters to come to our feeders for the first time just like everyone else.
