Practice Report (Any Species)

Date: 06/05/2016

Number: 1

The first monarch of the season. I can't say for certain about the monarch, all have been in flight. The flight of the monarch to me is quite distinctive. I have not seen many viceroys in a transit flight and we have very few red admirals around here. I came back from Manitoba on Monday, Brandon area west on #1 HWY, quite a bit of milkweed (Asclepias speciosa) alond the ditches there some was close to flowering. The wind was so high nothing was flying. When we got to Wolsely I would have said a monarch came accross the highway there, and would have also called a monarch on the north side of Echo Lake around Fort San. There is not much milkweed around here that I am aware of, I know of a patch over by Katepwa Lake I think I will head over there shortly to have a look.
