Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/16/2016

Number: 1

Mrs. Carpenter's Gr. 6 class from Blair Road PS was here studying Biodiversity. We had the Outdoor Centre's first monarch sighting of the year at 2:00 pm along Blair Creek. Fresh and bright, but not close enough to determine gender. Milkweed is well developed and ready for them! We were stalking the regionally rare Baltimore Checkerspot at the time. Also recorded Calico Pennant, 12-spotted Skimmer, and Ebony Jewelwing.
