I was in the garden all morning and up to 4 p.m. today. I saw a monarch coming out of the southwest and landing on the milkweed flowers. The wind is blowing strong today, around 30-35 kph, but the monarch held strong. She stopped to nectar on 8 milkweed plants, and the closest she came to me was about 6 feet. After nectaring, she went into the neighbor's garden, also filled with milkweeds. She looked just a tad faded.
