I was so excited to see a fresh, brightly colored monarch this early in the Raleigh NC area! Normally August is our first sighting. Forgot to check if it was M or F. It spent the whole time nectaring from Asclepias and butterfly bush and didn't seem to land on leaves so I don't think it laid eggs. I plan to check for caterpillars in a few days anyway. I have plenty of milkweed this year; just waiting for more monarchs!
