Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/29/2016

Number: 1

I did not see any Monarch butterflies at all on my milkweed but on Friday when I was checking out my milkweed garden I spotted one very tiny larva in the floral buds of one milkweed. As much as I studied my other plants then and every day since this is the only one. It has been busy eating buds and today it has ventured out onto a lower leaf and it is definitely larger than it was and easier to find. I do not know when the mother flew in, nor why I have not found any eggs nor other caterpillars as I inspect them daily and have a large patch.
