This is only the first Monarch butterfly adult I've observed this year. Seems like Monarch abundance is lower than last year. Also, I'm very concerned about the condition of Milkweed plants in some local areas due to the drought-like conditions. Even Common Milkweed plants, which are quite drought-tolerant, seem droopy due to lack of rainfall in some areas.
