Today I was planting more zinnia seedlings and weeding when I saw a female monarch laying eggs on common milkweed. She had deposited eggs in the last 2 days but I hadn't seen her until today. Looked fresh and deposited 12 eggs so far. I just came in from 90 degree heat after checking all my commons. She seems to favor 1 or 2 year commons but also laid on a 3 year old tall common. The last 2 eggs found in the last couple of days were on swamp.
