Sightings report image

Date: 07/10/2016

Number: 2

My family and I visited South Bass island, and drove around the island enjoying the breeze and activities. We noted one tiger swallowtail, one male black swallowtail, two fritillaries, and two monarchs. One monarch was hanging out around the milkweed at the Put-In-Bay winery overlooking PIB Harbor. A second monarch flew past us, nectaring from plants along the shoreline as we passed near the fish hatchery. Later, my friend Jackie Taylor (naturalist) told me she saw her first monarch of the season at the island's nature center garden.
