Have been working since winter to get Showy and Rose Milkweed growing and have been very successful. Started a new 4000 sq ft patch of locally sourced Showy in meadow area. I found the easiest way to get them going was to soak the seeds at room temp and then plant in permanent spots when the roots sprouted (early spring). My guess is over a hundred new Showy plants are thriving, plus have at least that many Rose Milkweeds ready to be transplanted to their permanent locations in watered gardens around the house. Also, planted numerous locally native species of wildflowers as nectar sources and host plants for other butterflies. Lots of work but fun.
