Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/08/2016

Number: 6

I had found a few eggs recently but just discovered some larvae on small swamp milkweed mostly. I found them between July 8 and July 16. One was a 2nd instar and the others were 3rd instars. The female monarchs must know that predators don't check small swamp milkweeds as often. My tall common milkweeds are loaded with ants, spiders, flies and wasps but nothing is usually on the small swamps which seem overlooked by most insects.
