Checked Big Lake farm again. Saw at least eight monarchs, perhaps as many as a dozen.
Coneflowers and milkweed are in full bloom; just a few goldenrod so far.
In the garden, had two males patrolling most of the day; then one of them captured a female and so we have a nesting pair.
I have been pulling milkweed plants from the vegetable garden areas; today I pulled another dozen tiny shoots in the new potato area and several of those had eggs, even after the pulling three days ago.
Those eggs I decided to keep in the house; not sure about the recommended procedure for dealing with eggs. Advice anyone??????????
My two from a week back should soon eclose.
