Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/20/2016

Number: 3

Finally, some Monarch butterflies in central PA! Spotted at least 3 flitting about a small field that has some common milkweed growing at about 40.893 N by 77.801 W at about 5:00 PM. Never got close enough to determine gender. These are the first Monarch’s I’ve seen in the area, despite watching several locations for the past month between Bellefonte and State College with milkweeds growing. Hopefully, the butterflies I spotted today are mating and we’ll find some eggs and/or caterpillars soon.
