I found a monarch caterpilliar on my rue plant, seemed to have jumped from a milkweed. I took the caterpilliar indoors for rearing and the butterfly emerged today from the chrysalis. It looks like a girl. Very exciting, I haven't seen a monarch in my area in many years.
